The life of Auguste Leroux

Jean Marie Auguste Leroux (1871-1954) was a renowned French painter of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Born in Paris on June 30, 1871, Leroux showed an early talent for art and was encouraged by his family to pursue his passion. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he developed his technical skills and was influenced by the movements of his time, notably Impressionism. Léon Bonnat was his master.

Leroux is best known for his luminous, atmospheric landscapes, characterized by skillful use of color and light. His works often capture the beauty of the French countryside, particularly the Normandy region, where he spent many years painting en plein air. He also produces many portraits that can be likened to genre scenes.

Over the course of his career, Auguste Leroux has exhibited his work in numerous renowned exhibitions in Paris and abroad, earning him international recognition. His paintings are appreciated for their sensitivity and ability to capture the essence of nature.

Auguste Leroux died in 1954.
