The life of Max Papart

Max Papart was born in Marseille in 1911. Franco-American, Papart briefly attended the École des Beaux-Arts de Marseille before training as a painter on his own.

In 1936, Papart moved to Paris and became an artisan printer. He exhibited his first prints at the Salon des Indépendants and had his first solo show in 1938.

Later, Max Papart evolved from a post-Cubist style to an artistic expression that incorporated abstract elements into his plastic thinking. As a lithographer, engraver and painter, he frequently uses mixed techniques and collage. His work is influenced by painters such as Atlan and Clavé, and is regularly exhibited in galleries and museums around the world.

Towards the end of his life, Max Papart created jewelry inspired by his own paintings.
