Sam Szafran (1934-2019) was a Polish-born French artist, famous for his work as a painter, draughtsman and printmaker. He is best known for his works inspired by landscapes, domestic interiors and architectural motifs.

Of Polish origin, his parents were Jewish and died in the concentration camps. He was adopted and moved to Paris when he came of age. He attended the Académie de la Grande Chaumière, where he met Yves Klein.
