The life of Henry Emile Vollet

Henry Émile Vollet (1861 - 1945) was a 20th-century French painter.

He produced work mainly in Vietnam at the same time as Victor Tardieu and Alix Aymé, and it's easy to recognize stylistic links between their paintings and drawings.

Very few details are known about his life, but it is known that he trained in the studio of painter Fernand Cormon, a teacher at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris who trained Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Vincent Van Gogh, among others.

He spends much of his life in Vietnam, drawing inspiration from the country, its culture and religious rites. He also produces landscape scenes.

His work was awarded a bronze medal at the 1900 Universal Exhibition, and an honorable mention at the 1888 Salon des Artistes Français.
