The artist's works and style

Influenced by the artistic movements of his time, such as Impressionism, Neo-Impressionism and Synthetism, Jacques Gautherin's style is characterized by bold use of color, strong contours and a keen eye for light.

Through his works, Gautherin wanted to move away from realism and depict the atmosphere and light of Provence and the Côte d'Azur.

The life of Jacques Gautherin

Jacques Gautherin (1929-1997) was a French post-impressionist painter who worked in Provence and on the Côte d'Azur.

Few details are known about his life, but his work is very similar to that of pointillist artists such as Paul Signac and Georges Seurat. Not far removed from Impressionism, his technique consists of applying small dots with a brush to create an optical illusion and enhance luminous contrast.

His signature

Jacques Gautherin's works are not all signed, which is why expert appraisal is so important.
