Renato Carvillani's style and technique

Renato Carvillani is an Italian sculptor who works mainly in bronze and gilded bronze. His sculptures are distinguished by their highly rounded curves. He is influenced by Jean Antoine Injalbert and Jean Boucher.

Renato Carvillani's career

Renato Carvillani (1896 - 1972) was an Italian sculptor born in Rome.

The artist moved to Paris at an early age, where he studied at the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris under Jean Antoine Injalbert and Jean Boucher. He soon exhibited his work in the major Parisian salons: Salon d'Automne, Salon des Indépendants and Salon des Artistes Français. His work met with limited success, but he was able to open a studio in the artists' quarter of the 15th arrondissement of Paris.

His inspirations are manifold, ranging from classic female nudes to animal sculpture. The bronzes he creates are made by his father's foundry, which he opened in Paris during his childhood.

He died in 1972.

Renato Carvillani's imprint on his period

Renato Carvillani was not very well known during his lifetime, selling works at prices high enough to make a living from them thanks to the exclusive contract he had with his father's foundry. Today, his price is stable on the auction market.
