Artist's style and technique

Pascal Dagan-Bouveret was a pupil of Gérôme, using the same pictorial processes that were still part of the Académie. He was part of the naturalist movement, producing mainly oil paintings in fairly dark shades. He painted genre scenes and portraits.

Pascal Dagnan-Bouveret was born in Paris in 1852.

Pascal Adolphe Jean Dagnan-Bouveret was a French naturalist painter born in Paris on January 7, 1852, and died in Quincey, Haute-Saône, on July 3, 1929. He studied at the Beaux-Arts de Paris in Alexandre Cabanel's studio, then with Jean-Léon Gérôme. He is known for his naturalistic works and portraits, often characterized by their precision and realistic treatment. Dagnan-Bouveret was influenced by the realist movement and also explored religious themes in some of his works. His work is appreciated for its technical mastery and ability to capture everyday life in great detail. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français and at the Universal Exhibitions of 1889 and 1900.
