The artist's works and style
Jean Reminger follows in the footsteps of Francis Bacon, adopting a fairly figurative and abstract style, often placing the human body at the heart of his representations. His preferred media are oil on canvas and drawing - ink, mixed media, acrylic, gouache...
Jean Remlinger's career
Jean Remlinger (b. 1935) is a French figurative artist.
A native of Alsace, he studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Mulhouse, where he focused on figurative painting and acquired various technical skills (colorimetry, spatial construction of his compositions, etc.).
Staying on to work in the region, his place of residence enables him both to make a name for himself and to exhibit in France, Germany and Switzerland.
Remlinger centers his work on the human body, depicting fragmented sections of these bodies (as Igor Mitoraj did in sculpture, for example). Like some of his colleagues, he also depicts faceless bodies or pencil-striped faces, with only their shape - stripped of nose, mouth, eyes or hair.
He sells his paintings at low prices, often to targeted, repeat customers.
Jean Remlinger's imprint on his period
Jean Remlinger is not a well-known artist, and his auction price is still relatively low. However, bidders' attraction to figurative painting suggests a certain upside potential in terms of the prices his paintings and drawings could fetch at auction. Some of his works are exhibited in museums, but private collectors play the greatest role in preserving his works.
His signature
Jean Remlinger's works are not all signed, which is why expertise is essential.
