The life of François Monnet
François Monnet is a French architect and designer born in 1946.
Not many details are known about his personal life and academic career.
He follows in the footsteps of iconic 20th-century designers such as Jean Prouvé, Raymond Subes, Le Corbusier and Charlotte Perriand, who favored minimalism, simplicity and clean, elegant curves, even though the latter worked mainly in wood.
His production began in 1968, even before he graduated as an architect. His most famous pieces of furniture are his stainless-steel armchairs and chairs, with their timeless, unobtrusive and elegant look, and his coffee tables, designed for the combination of glass and steel, a combination that can be surprisingly discreet and minimalist, blending into any interior.

François Monnet is not a well-known 20th-century designer, but he is highly appreciated by collectors of design and contemporary furniture for the sobriety and elegance of his pieces.
