Michelangelo Pistoletto is an Italian artist born in Biella in 1933.

From 1947, he worked with his father in his painting restoration workshop, while studying at Armando Testa's advertising graphics school.

From 1960 onwards, he produced a number of self-portraits against a metallic monochrome background. He explored collage and photorealistic printing techniques.
