Artist Jean-François Fouillhoux's style and technique

Jean-François Fouillhoux's ceramics are highly polished, with no particular style. He is strongly inspired by celadon and its "greasy sheen", working with a variety of sculptural techniques including earthenware and glazed ceramics.

The life of Jean-François Fouillhoux

Jean-François Fouillhoux (b. 1947) is a 20th-century ceramist still active today.

The ceramist moved to Mont-près-Chambord in 1976, where he studied celadon. He creates and tests relentlessly, finding a satin-like, translucent finish "as a result of an error of thought", which will become the stylistic identity of his creations.

Celadon, both a shade and a ceramic technique that emerged under the Eastern Huans, enables him to achieve a certain serenity in his work - even suavity, in the artist's own words. He even speaks of infinite depth.

Ceramics allow him to see a clear evolution in his creative process, as the celadon technique constantly exposes the problem between definite and indefinite.

Jean-François Fouillhoux on the auction market

Today, Galerie Capazza holds a privileged contract with the artist. Many of his works, however, are in the hands of private collectors, some of whom choose to offer them for sale on a regular basis. As a result, the auction market is a privileged avenue for acquiring one of his works. They are highly prized at auction, and whether it's a stoneware sculpture, an animal model, a ceramic bowl or some other work, they are all in demand.
