Jean Baptiste Germain (1841-1910), a French artist, became an important figure in 19th-century sculpture.
Born in the Marne region of France, he quickly turned to sculpture and was trained by sculptors Dumont and Gumery.
He made a name for himself by exhibiting at the Salon from 1866 to 1879. He mainly produced bronzes depicting warriors and animal subjects.
