Style and technique at Georges Lenfant

The Georges Lenfant jewelry house is little known to the general public, yet it has fashioned some of the major creations of 20th-century haute-jouaillerie. The company created jewelry in collaboration with some of the greatest names, adapting to their artistic lines and aesthetics, and bringing innovations to the table.

Georges Lenfant, a little-known face of haute-joaillerie

Georges Lenfant was first listed in 1903 in the Revue de bijouterie et de joaillerie. The company's hallmark was officially registered in 1909. The scale of creation was modest at first, with his son Jacques working with him from the age of 11. From 1927 onwards, the jewelry was sold under the name of Maison Sandoz, following a partnership between two jewelers due to financial difficulties. The company then joined forces with Verger Frères, producing a collection of Art Deco jewelry.

In the 50's, new collaborations were launched with renowned houses such as Cartier, Hermès, Van Cleef & Arpels and Harry Winston.

For Hermès, for example, Georges Lenfant magnifies the collection inspired by the elements of the sea: she creates and punches anchor chain bracelets in 18-carat gold, as well as nautical knot rings and cufflinks.

For Cartier, she creates numerous pendants, bracelets and necklaces, including the angel hair model, which is designed using gold filigree.
