How to sell & estimate your Lacloche jewels at auction ?
The Lacloche house
Less known to the general public than Boucheron and Cartier, the Lacloche house was nevertheless one of the most prestigious jewelry manufacturers of its time. It remains today one of the most popular jewelry houses at auction. The history of Lacloche began in 1892 with a partnership between two brothers, Jules and Léopold. The company developed over time by opening new stores, and the consecration came in 1901 with the opening of the store on the rue de la Paix, right next to Cartier. Promised a brilliant future, Lacloche experienced its golden age during the Roaring Twenties and was very much in the spotlight during the World's Fairs where it presented clocks, boxes, necklaces, bracelets and rings, each more sumptuous than the last. After the Second World War, the company was not left behind and continued to supply the greatest. Among its most prestigious clients were Indian princes, American actors and wealthy European nobility, such as an order from the iconic Grace Kelly. The Lacloche boutique closed in 1967 but left a flamboyant memory for lovers of fine jewelry. Lacloche's jewelry is highly sought after at auction.
Lacloche jewelry at auction
The pieces of the Lacloche house in auction often realize important prices. It must be said that the work of the house is very qualitative. During the art deco period, Lacloche specialized in the creation of boxes, cigarette holders, necklaces, brooches and bracelets in white gold and platinum, set with diamonds, emeralds, rubies and sapphires, but also with more original materials such as onyx, jade, moonstones and coral in extremely refined compositions. The company is renowned for its expertise in working with stones and calls on specialized artists for the design of its jewelry. Later pieces are also sought after at auction, like a modernist bracelet designed in 1937, sold for more than 120,000 euros in 2018 and having the very amusing specificity of being able to be modified according to one's desires (the house has provided a set of modular cabochons in coral, turquoise, sapphire and citrine)
